ROLEPLAY ANNOUNCEMENT
by Varda
Sooo it's been a brilliant year for the forum! We've met plenty of wonderful new members and it's a pleasure to have them stand among our already fantabulous line up of loyal and loving members
And so since you've all been such a wonderful help keeping the forum going, here are perhaps a few changes that Nessa and I have been discussing that will hopefully interest you!
1. Roleplay Moderators
Those of you who had the opportunity to join in on the post-tourney thread in Rohan may have noticed the appearance of an RP mod! These moderators will become more frequent on the site and are essentially there to control NPCs in events but can also be used for individual character story arcs upon request.
The RP mods will be using about 50-150 words per post, so whilst it won't be in depth- it will allow for fast replies and won't slow down the posting on the moderators' other accounts.
2. RP Sample
The RP sample on the character application will now only have to be filled in once for your first character and then can be disregarded for future applications.
3. Time Skips
Time will move forwards in the RP by the use of coordinated time skips. These time-skips will most frequently skip to the next upcoming event or to the next season.
4. Monetary System
The monetary system will be temporarily disabled as shops and markets are going to be reviewed and put in order.
5. Event Timeline
A public event timeline will be put up so members can see what events their characters can attend in the upcoming few months. Members are also free to suggest their own events on the timeline. And this will provide a basis for the timeskips mentioned above.

WORLD HEADLINES
Rohan Tourney: A Stirrup of Events!
After two weeks of ups and downs, the Rohirric Tourney funded by King Fengel has at last come to an end. The tourney was described as 'one of a kind' by many as it saw Dwarves, Elves and Men compete against each other in a series of friendly events.
In several events the public were met with some shocking surprises as crowd favourites, such as the charming Prince Legolas, failed to place for gold. The Prince of Mirkwood came second in the archery event to the previously unheard of young, energetic Mirkwood elf Edlothia. Other victors included Gimilzor of Silverhill and the much beloved Lord Glorfindel of Rivendell.
A final party has been hosted to mark the end of the tourney before everyone journeys home. But hopefully we'll be seeing more of these events in the upcoming years!
Glorfindel goes on tour
Get out your cameras and autograph books! An exclusive interview with Rivendell's most recognisable hero has revealed that the golden-haired Lord is currently touring Middle Earth! Yes that's right, the First Age hero could be coming to a city near you!
Lord Glorfindel described the tour as an opportunity for him to meet plenty of new friends and catch up with old ones too. Be sure not to miss him when he swings by your hometown! He'll be going to the following cities:
The Elvenking's Halls, Laketown, City of Dale, Minas Tirith, Aldburg, back home to Rivendell and possibly Bree and the Grey Havens shortly after.
Unrest in the East
Our correspondent in the East has revealed that there is a shared feeling of resentment towards the White Council by many of the Eastern populations as the defeat of Sauron just over two years ago has apparently done little more than move the problem elsewhere.
A sharp increase in Orcish attacks over the past months has been noted which is thought to be linked to Sauron's retreat to the East. Several councils including that of Dorwinion and the other settlements of Rhun are gathering to decide what to do about the problem.
Another Victory for Gondorian Rising Star!
During the Rohirric Tourney the Gondorian Lord, Gimilzor of Silverhill, has won himself a further two trophies to take back home with him. This has been the first interracial tourney that the young rising star has taken part in and no doubt his friends and family will be very proud of his victories.
Gimilzor has risen as a well-loved and fashionable knight over the past few years. However, the people of Silverhill seem to be less excited for their future Lord. Many from his homeland have described him as self-centered, irresponsible and uncaring towards those less fortunate than him.
Do you agree? Write in to tell us what you think!

MEMBER INTERVIEW
by Varda
MEET ARIEN
Moderator of the forum
So Arien, do you want to tell us a little about your characters?
I play three characters on QME: Tahlaia is a half-breed (Dwarf/Elf) roughish character that makes her living hunting and selling pelts and meat. Gilrien is the youngest daughter of King Thranduil, she is an expert quartermaster and is fiercely loyal of her Mirkwood kin. Estelmist is a young elf who lives in Rivendell, she is a skilled healer and gardener.
Do you have a favourite to play on the forum?
Tahlaia will always be my baby. She's my favourite.
And when did you first become interested in Tolkien/Peter Jacksons work?
Must have been when I was six or seven and my dad sat down with me and watched The Lord of the Rings, [I've] been pretty obsessed since then. More so when The Hobbit trilogy came out.
If you had to pick, who would you say your favourite character in Tolkien and PJ's works is?
Samwise has always been a favourite character of mine. He's too precious.
So in the battle of Elves vs Dwarves, which race would you say is better?
Gotta love the Dwarves. They all have such unique personalities and such.
And what inspired you to come up with the idea of a halfbreed OC on the forum?
I really wanted a unique character with pretty unique issues to overcome. Tahlaia's mixed breeding has created a lot of problems for her physically and mentally, it brings something to her character that she wouldn't have otherwise.
This may seem like a weird question but which Middle Earth realm would you like to rule and what would be your first law as ruler of that realm?
I always loved Rivendell, that's probably where I'd like to rule. My first law? Gah I don't know. Something about keeping Rivendell a safe haven for all travellers.
And last but not least, do you have any advice to give to others to ensure they get the most fun possible out of RPing here on QME?
Just make sure to RP with as many people as possible!!

Estelmist
Estelmist
Well it's about time that we had someone other than Tauriel to prove to the world that whilst we might not always see it, gingers do have feelings just like you and I.
She doesn't move around much so those visiting Rivendell gardens can probably stop by for a chat (even if it may be a slightly one-sided chat).
Male Character Of The Month
Thranduil
Thranduil
He's the only Elvenking left in Middle Earth and he's also the only King in Middle Earth who rides around on a moose (though he insists it's an Elk). He has more sass in his little finger than most people could dream of ever having and he organises a party like no one else.
Given those facts, it's clear that Thranduil is definitely the coolest person in all of Middle Earth. Or at least in the opinion of his two voters: Legolas and his

Erebor's dynamic duo took this title by storm once again and remain the undefeated champions for title of best-loved duo on the forum.
After surprising all of the Rohirrim by revealing that not only do they click personality-wise but they can also form one helluva impressive longbow archer when they stand on top of each other, it just goes to show that there is no couple more perfect than these two adorable Princes in all of Middle Earth.
