Lindon was founded by Gil-galad at the beginning of the Second Age. It was the longest-standing Eldarin Kingdom in the history of Middle-earth, and the mightiest throughout the S.A. The realm has endured, though diminished. It's capital is the Grey Havens and is now ruled by Círdan.

The Blue Mountains or Ered Luin, also known as Ered Lindon, was the mountain range at the far west of Eriador. Many of the Dwarves of Erebor moved here after Smaug attacked and rebuilt the previously destroyed dwarven cities of Ered Luin.

The Shire is the homeland of the Hobbits. By the Third Age it was one of the few heavily-populated areas left in Eriador. The Shire is quite densely populated in parts with many villages and a few towns, but still open enough to allow for wide forested areas and marshes.

Buckland, later known as the Eastmarch, is a small colony of the Hobbits between the Old Forest and the Brandywine River (Baranduin). The Bucklanders are unlike other hobbits as they are prepared for danger and are thus less naive than the Shire-hobbits.

Bree was a village, of Men and some hobbits, in Middle-earth located east of the Shire and south of Fornost Erain in Eriador. It was not unheard of for Hobbits of the Shire and Buckland to visit to Bree, especially the more adventurous ones.

Rivendell, also known as Imladris, was an Elven outpost in Middle-earth. Rivendell was located at the edge of a narrow gorge of the river Loudwater and is well hidden in the moorlands and foothills of the Misty Mountains.

Dunland is the land of the Wild Men, or Dunlendings. The buildings that Dunlendings lived and worked in were crude shacks of wood and animal skin that were often sabotaged by wargs and sometimes the Rohirrim.
