So I see there's been quite a bit of confusion caused by the field 'social class' in our application and Nessa and I have put it in there to get you guys thinking about what standing your character has in society and how they fit in.
Now obviously in different locations, classes are very different (eg. Difference between Dunland and Gondor) but I still think it'd be a good idea to keep the field in. I was going to write a post on the topic before deciding to consult you guys in what 'class' system you would rather fill out in that field.
The D&D style class system consists of various classes of profession consisting of: Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Wizard.
Obviously we can tweak this list to fit us all in better and the are plenty of examples of this in RPGs (Eg. Elder Scroll system - Mage, Thief or Warrior).
This would be as opposed to the more traditional way of looking at social class rankings which have the upper class, middle class and lower class rankings. Now this one, whilst it may not sound as exciting makes you think more about your character's social standing and their position in society.
The upper class are the elite with a lot of money, good education, cultured, influence and power- this would include most royal families, high-ranked families, exceedingly wealthy families, etc.
The middle class are those who are not part of the elite like the upper class but they are still fairly well off and have a decent level of education.
The working class are those who are at the bottom of the pyramid and have low wages, very little influence and are generally not very well cultured and often consist of the grand majority of people.
So tell me which class system appeals more to you and I'll get to writing a small help page on that!
