The noise is deafening. The shouts, catcalls, and screams all blending in to one huge cheer that seems to shake the wooden stands in its intensity. Friends argue good naturedly about who would win and who the favourites are, enemies sit side by side sharing food and thoughts, their quarrels forgotten in their excitement for the coming fight. Here and there men call out, taking bets and attempting to sell their wares to spectators too dazzled by what's going on around them to notice the extortionate prices.
The stands only go quite when the knights make their appearance, holding their breath as they take up their positions and ready themselves for the fight ahead.
